Electricity From Sunlight

Photovoltaic solar energy systems use sunlight to generate electricity. It lowers your utility bill, and helps reduce fossil-fuel consumption and global warming. A Schüco system lasts for many years, and adds to the value of your home.

How it works

  • Sunlight hitting silicon cells in a module generates a direct current.
  • A switch protects the solar modules from grid power fluctuations.
  • The solar direct current goes from the solar modules to an inverter.
  • If there is extra solar current, the system feeds it to the utility grid, running the meter backwards.
  • If more power is needed, the switch draws power from the utility grid.

    • Modules

The module turns solar radiation into electricity. Our PV modules have very high performance and long life. Each individual module is output tested before it leaves the factory, so you and your installer know exactly what it will deliver. We stand behind our modules with a 25 year warranty.* The anodized aluminum frame is corrosion- and torsion-proof, and the front is protected by tempered safety glass for durability. Our modules will look good on your home for the life of the system.

*see Schüco USA Solar Warranty for details

    • Switch

The switch protects your solar module array by cutting off the grid connection in the event of harmful grid power fluctuations or outages.

    • Inverter with Digital Display

The inverter converts direct-current (DC) power from the modules into standard alternating-current (AC) power. It contains a display which shows you what your system is generating. Solutions also include web monitoring with real-time production graphs and USB connections to a PC.

    • Net Metering

When your system produces electricity, it feeds the power to your existing electrical panel, which then distributes the solar power (and any utility power needed) to your load center in a normal manner. If you have a so-called „net metering“ agreement with your local electric utility, any excess power generated by your system is sent back to the utility. When you generate more power than you need, your electric meter spins backwards and you are only charged for the net energy you consume.

    • Mounting Hardware

Our SolarEZ mounting system for all modules is carefully engineered for durability and maximum strength.

    Hot Water From the Sun

Solar thermal energy systems capture the heat of the sun and use it to heat water. A properly installed system works year-round even when it's cloudy.

    How it works

  • The sun heats a non-toxic, freeze-proof solar fluid in a solar collector on the roof.
  • The collector detects that the solar fluid is hotter than the water in the hot water tank.
  • A pump in the Solar Station pumps solar fluid from the collector to the hot water tank.
  • The solar fluid flows through a pipe coiling inside the hot water tank, and heats the water in the tank.
  • The hot water is available for use in the house.
  • The solar fluid is pumped back up to the collector, where it is once again heated by the sun.

    • Collectors

These turn solar radiation into heat. A non-toxic, freeze-proof fluid running through a pipe in the collector picks up this heat and transfers it to the rest of the system. Schüco collectors give industry leading heat collection efficiency. Tempered safety glass, a tough aluminum frame, and corrosion resistant materials ensure long service life. Our award-winning Premium collectors are architectural grade collectors with clear glass, rounded edges and the industry`s most finished design. Our Slim collectors provide the same performance in a standard configuration and lower price.

    • Controller

The DeltaSol provides automatic system control and shows your system’s yield and temperature.

    • Solar Station

This contains all the “plumbing.” We install the pump, valves, and fittings in the factory so that everything works the first time. No additional soldering is necessary in your home.

    • Storage Tank

The storage tank is where the heat from the collectors is transferred to your water system and stored. The solar fluid never touches the water.

    • Mounting Hardware

Our SolarEZ mounting system is carefully engineered for durability and strength to mount the collectors on the roof.
