Incentives for Solar

Utility Rebate - Some utility companies offer a rebate amount that is paid after the system is installed and turned on. Carlson Solar Technologies allows you to assign the rebate to us to reduce your out of pocket costs.

Federal Tax Credit - The Federal government will allow you a 30% tax credit on the system cost, which can be carried forward to the year 2016 if your tax liability is not large enough to take advantage of it in the first year. http://www.dsireusa.org/incentives/index.cfm?State=US&ee=0&re=1

Arizona State Tax Credit - The Arizona state tax credit is 25% of the system cost, capped at $1000. This can be carried forward for up to 5 years if your tax liability is not large enough to take advantage in the first year. http://www.dsireusa.org/incentives/index.cfm?re=1&ee=0&spv=0&st=0&srp=1&state=AZ

Local Sales Tax Exemptions - There is no local or state sales tax on solar.

Funding for rebates is limited and subject to availability. It's recommended that you apply for the rebate as soon as you have decided to install a solar system.

Utility Incentives

APS - Residential Solar Incentive Program

Currently, APS is offering and incentive level of $1.00 per watt.

APS is currently only accepting Residential Grid-Tied PV applications in the Rapid Reservation Program. On October 1, 2011, the Rapid Reservation program will close. At that time, any funds not reserved by customers will be re-allocated to the Standard Incentive program for residential grid-tied PV. Customers, on a first-come, first-serve basis, will be able to apply for incentives at the standard incentive rate of $1.45. Once those funds are exhausted, APS will no longer accept applications from residential customers for incentives until January 2012.

APS - Small Commercial Up Front Solar Incentive Program (UFI)

Commercial PV systems installed within the APS service territory and tied to the APS grid that are less than 30 kW can compete for a one-time incentive from APS of up to $1.75 per installed Watt (DC), up to a maximum incentive of $75,000. Total up-front incentive payments are also limited to 50 percent of the system cost.

Funding for up-front incentives is awarded on a competitive basis every other month. At the end of each bi-monthly period, renewable energy projects are compared to each other based on the “ranking score” each project receives from the APS UFI Ranking Calculator. The lower the score the more likely your project will be to get funded.

APS - Large Commercial Production Based Solar Incentive Program (PBI)

APS offers production based incentives for commercial projects larger than 30 kW. There are two tiers for PBI projects, based on system size. Funding for both tiers is awarded on a competitive basis and each tier has different funding periods. The project will be awarded a “ranking score” from the APS UFI Ranking Calculator. The lower the score the more likely your project will be to get funded.

SRP - Residential Solar Incentive Program

Currently, SRP is offering an incentive level of $1.35 per watt, up to 5 kW.

SRP has set aside funding for a total of 4.5 megawatts (MW) of residential solar electric installations through April 30, 2012. The incentive level is offered at $1.35 per watt, up to 5 kilowatts (kW) for the first 2 MW of installations and adjusts to $1.20 per watt for another 1.5 MW of installations, ending at $1 per watt for the remaining 1 MW of installations.

SRP – Small Commercial Solar Incentive Program

Currently, SRP is offering an incentive level of $1.35 per watt, up to $40,500.

SRP has set aside funding for a total of 1100 kilowatts (kW) of small commercial solar electric installations through April 30, 2012. The incentive level is offered at $1.35 per watt (up to $40,500) for the first 500 kilowatts (kW) of installations and adjusts to $1.20 per watt (up to $36,000) for another 400 kW of installations, ending at $1 per watt (up to $30,000) for the remaining 200 kW of installations.

SRP – Large Commercial Solar Incentive Program

Currently, SRP is offering an incentive level of $0.10 per kWh of metered generation over a 20-year period.

SRP has set aside funding for a total of 6 MW of large commercial solar electric installations through April 30, 2012. The incentive level is offered at $0.12 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) of metered generation over a 20-year period for the first 2 MW of installations and adjusts to $0.11 per kWh for another 2 MW of installations, ending at $0.10 per kWh for the remaining 2 MW of installations.
